Storyline:

After backing series such as High Priestess and Locked, it’s a safe bet to say that actor Krishna has a fondness for thrillers told in long-format storytelling. The actor is now backing yet another thriller series, Jhansi, which stars Anjali in the lead role. “The main reason why I started a production house is to tell stories, which I am unable to act in. Jhansi has been a dream for me and writer Ganesh Karthik, and we have been travelling with the script for a couple of years,” said Krishna while speaking at a press meet convened in Chennai on Wednesday.

“Since Jhansi will release in multiple languages, we thought it would be good to have artists across languages,” added Krishna, as he introduced the cast. Jhansi features Kannada actor Samyukta Hornad, Sharanya Ramachandran from Malayalam, Adithya Shivpink, choreographer Kalyan, and Mumaith Khan, among others.

Storyline:

Dhamaka begins with some intimate glimpses of prime time news anchor Arjun Pathak (Kartik Aaryan) and his reporter wife Soumya Mehra Pathak (Mrunal Thakur) from their social media feed before the scene cuts to the present where the former is seen sitting a divorce file in his hand.

He is now working as a radio jockey in the same media conglomerate where he was once the star anchor. On one of his usual drab working days, Arjun gets a call from a man who threatens to blow up the Bandra-Worli Sea Link in Mumbai unless his demands are met. Initially thinking of it as a prank call, Arjun turns a deaf hear only to realize that the man’s threats ain’t empty.

While scribbling down ‘exclusive’ on a paper, it dawns upon Arjun that this could be a perfect opportunity for him to reclaim his prime time show in exchange of the ‘explosive’ news. He dials up his boss Ankita (Amruta Subhash) and informs her of his findings. In the next few minutes, he quickly slips into his razor sharp look complete with zero power glasses, unknown to the fact that the proceeding events are all set to make a big ‘dhamaka’ in his life; both personally and professionally.

Storyline:

The Zee5 series Jaanbaaz Hindustan Ke seeks to give viewers a look at the sacrifices and challenges faced by the IPS officers stationed across the nation. Regina Cassandra plays Kavya Iyer, who is also a mother and daughter, when not saving the country from terror threats and other nefarious forces. Nicknamed ‘Shillong Ki Sherni’, Kavya has acquired quite a reputation when stationed in Meghalaya. However, Kavya’s impulsive nature causes her to drive fearlessly into dangerous situations, without much thought to the safety of her team. Tough and fair, she is also not above resorting to police brutality to get the job done. One such incident that causes many fatalities, gets her demoted to the police academy to oversee the trainees. Kavya has a hunch about a recent terror attack in Meghalaya which targets a politician. The action then kicks into high gear once Mahira Rizvi (Mita Vashisht) and her team at the National Investigation Agency (NIA) are introduced. They are working on a similar case investigating a terror threat, and recruit Kavya to their team.

Interestingly, a huge number of these ‘heavenly marriages’ appear all shiny and bright owing to the compromises made by couples on various levels. In Badhaai Do, this matrimonial compromise is of a different kind – one that is not often spoken about but has been in existence all along.

For those unversed, it’s called a lavender marriage – which is a hetero marriage between two homosexual persons, who agree to this arrangement of convenience for various reasons like trying to fit into society, avoiding social stigma emanating from their single status, and using it as a cover so that they can live their lives with some semblance of freedom. Harshavardhan Kulkarni’s film depicts this complicated arrangement with humour and wit – but not at the expense of the characters – and handles the protagonists’ dilemma with a great deal of sensitivity. The film is an attempt to send out the message that sexual orientation should not and does not define who an individual is. A sequel to the multiple National Award-winning movie Badhaai Ho, the film is an entertaining family watch.

Storyline:

But, the experience is marred by too many easy coincidences and loopholes that are hard to ignore. Ahead of Republic Day, Director Shantanu Bagchi pays a tribute to all heroes who don’t wear a uniform and sacrifice their lives for their motherland. However, the story, jointly written by Aseem Arrora, Sumit Batheja and Parveez Shaikh, falters at several places and doesn’t let Mission Majnu hit hard.
